Hi guys, I was just wondering if there was any way to send a terminal command across my internal network and port-forward that to my machine.

Reason I ask - I just got XBMC set up on my Ubuntu desktop. I also just installed the XBMC Android remote app. What I need to achieve is to create some sort of terminal command or shortcut from Android device to tell my desktop to launch XBMC

Can this be done? If so how?

Hi fubofo.

Although in a different approach, I think this may help:

There's an multiplatform application called synergy (http://lifehacker.com/254648/how-to-control-multiple-computers-with-a-single-keyboard-and-mouse) that allow you to share the movements of your desktop mouse, and control it from another machine.

There's a couple of Synergy versions on the software center, and there's also an Android version too (check here (http://sourceforge.net/projects/synergyandroid/)).

Hope it helps,
Regards.

Thanks papibe, I just realised that I can just SSH into my machine and run a command that way! LOL (always seem to overlook the simplest of things)

Also just found this nice little Android app that allows a customised remote control over SSH. Basically you add your SSH details and it provides you with a remote control with unmapped buttons - all buttons can then contain custom terminal commands! ;)
