hi...
m on ubuntu 11.10.
i want to install gimp on my desktop.
i used Ubuntu Software Centre.
But this messsage occurs:

''This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.''

Try
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade in the terminal.

Then try installing Gimp again.

It should work with the Software Center but try this terminal command

sudo apt-get install gimp It should try to install a version of gimp that is compatible with your system. Maybe you need to purge it first:

sudo apt-get purge gimp

sudo apt-get install gimp
Edit: Did you get any error messages when running the update and upgrade commands suggested by Rodney9

read the instructions on this page - you need to add two more repositories
