Left launcher panel resets after logout

I tried Google and I also tried the Ubuntu forums, but still don't know what to do.

I just recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 and if I remove icons from the left panel launcher they reappear after I logout and login again. I tried to remove the ~/.config folder, but that didn't help at all.

Does anyone have a solution, or any pointers to where I might find one?

I'd be happy to post more information if that's necessary.

If that doesn't help, please check if the issue is also present in a new, fresh user account - to see if this is system-wide or config-related.

How are you "removing" icons? Are you right clicking them and unchecking: Keep in launcher, or doing something else?
