Terminal or Console?

Since the program is technically called a "terminal emulator", I'd suggest using "terminal". The two terms date back to the Elder Days, when only root had direct physical access to the computer, and mere mortals used the computer through dumb terminals.

I got so used to OS X and Gnome that I always use the term terminal.

Konsole is a cheezy way to work in the "K". Enough already.

I believe the KDE team realized right way that kerminal just would not sound right.

For some reason I use terminal when I talk about terminal emulator apps like gnome-terminal or xterm, and console when I'm talking about VT's. I have no idea why, but it just feels right ;)

Its CLI, command line interface. Nothing more. Terminals are (or rather were) thin clients to servers and mainframes and consoles are again a form of terminal interface to larger server/mainframe systems. Both are now obsolete in most computer enviroments and so widely misused, no offence :), that neither is really better.

I use the term "terminal". Console, at least for me, reminds me of games (hand held consoles).

I use CLI only when I use GUI in the same sentence. :D
