I have been using Ubuntu for about a year for a web server without problems and yesterday upgraded to 11.10. I think all went well but I am now not able to upload any files to my web directory /var/www. I can upload to my home directory without problems. I get permission denied errors and 403 errors for FTP access and web access.
I can see the default web page when I go to the IP address of the server but when I add a virtual host address it does not allow me to see the files in my home folder for the site and I get the 403 error.
All other modules appear to be working correctly.
I can SSH in to the server and have checked all permissions and all appear to be correct.
Not sure where to look next.
Any help appreciated.
