X11 forwarding freezes with effects enabled

Hi all,

I've been having some issues with X11 forwarding of applications such as Cadence Virtuoso when effects are enabled. Upon launch of the application (Cadence Virtuoso 6.1.5), the entire system locks up and must be hard-reset. This does not happen in Gnome Classic or Unity 2D. This freezing does not happen with simple programs like gedit. Would anybody happen to know how to correct this issue?

I am connecting to a CentOS server using ssh -X. ssh -Y makes no difference on this behaviour.

I don't know if effects has to do with it or not. Cadence runs perfectly on Gnome Classic, but has problems with all other flavors of Gnome and Unity.
