I'm setting up a network for a community service based project. I'm wanting to offer everyone on the network the ability to watch videos on demand. I want them to be able to stop, play, pause, and change movies without affecting other users. What's the best approach?

Why shout at the response? That's not very nice. You never stated that in your initial post.

Humility and a good explanation behooves one.

How many computers are on the network? What type of hardware is the server using?

Have a look at Mediatomb, or minidlna.

Sorry, wasn't shouting LOL. More like showing annoyance at the fact that the organization has no internet access.

I'm wanting the server to be a normal GUI based ubuntu 11.10/12.04 box. I need the local managers to be able to add and remove films.
