Hey guys I'm just trying out gnome shell on 11.10 and I don't have any messengers open, the only one I have is pidgin, but there is some messenger running in the background. It can access my msn contacts and it's pretty cool. I'm just wondering how it's doing it?

All I clicked was that I'm available under my name In the right hand corner.

How did it sign straight into it?

Can any one shed some light?

I see my Gmail contacts in search and when I bring up Empathy, so I assume it fetches the contacts list from whatever you add to Online Accounts. I'm pretty sure the chat integration depends on Empathy, which is installed by default.

Well I deleted Empathy from my 11.10 installations and I just installed gnome shell. But I did sign in to Msn with empathy before I deleted it. Could that info have been stored in some config file?

Also I never added anything to online accounts
