Hi,

I have updated at the last Ubuntu 11.10 and now I can't configure correctly Thunderbird 9. I follow the guidate procedure but it cannot configure the mail account. It says that the configuration cannot be verified because the username and password are wrong. With the old Ubuntu 11.04 and Thunderbird 3.1.18 all worked well.
The account is gmail and the parameters are:
IMAP 993 SSL/TLS
SMNP 465 SSL/TLS
Any idea? Thank you

It's easy to forget a password when it's saved in a program, so I'm going to ask the obvious question first; are you positive that your username and password is correct? Is there http browser access to the account for testing it, or a support number?

Yes the username and password are correct because via browser I can access to my mail. I have tried again with the old Ubuntu 11.04 and thunderbird 3.1.18 inside a virtual machine and it works.
Very strange...

Hi,

today I have updated Ubuntu and it has installed Thunderbird 10.0.2. Now it works. I think that there is a bug in the previous version.

Thank

I'm also having the same problem. I'm using Thunderbird 10.0.2 and it doesn't accept the password which I am sure is the correct one. I had just formated the Ubuntu partition and I reinstalled Ubuntu and after applying all the updates and everything and wanted to set up the mail client but so far I haven't been able to do it.
I thought it was something about the installation but then I logged in Linux Mint and I found out the same problem and in this case Thunderbird was already set up but when I opened it I found an error window saying that there is a problem.

Did you try with the thunderbird 3.1.18 and the old Ubuntu 11.04?
