removing logout icon from old look ubuntu

I reverted back to gnome 2 look for ubuntu and I have put two logout icons on th etop bar by accident. How do I remove these. No good trying to delete them or drag and drop to desktop they just pop back into place.

Any help would be appreciated

Can we see a screenshot please, to know exactly what you mean, and what you want to remove.

With gnome 2 panel applets you can remove them by right clicking and selecting remove . To add panel applets right click the panel and select add to panel .

I destroyed my install after playing with Cinnamon Do had to do a new install but thanks for the help. Sorry to have wasted your time.
