This may belong in Other software... I think. If so apologies ahead of time.
I just had a simple question that is seriously confounding me.
How can I password protect a zip/tar/rar/whatever? Is there a command? File roller is about as helpful as a greesed pork chop. hehe
Any ideas?

You can 'chown' it so that only one user can use it. You can also put a '.' in front of the name and it'll become hidden.

Yes, use GnuPG, it can encrypt any file.

Why that? Just go to edit password and start adding files. Can't get any easier than that.
