Data to support your evidence

I, like many others before me, am looking for the lightest DE out there. I know by asking this question, I will get 30 responses each with a different opinion. My question is...has someone done the testing, does someone have the data to prove their argument?

Can someone point me to data that was collected to compare various different Desktop Environments?

If no one finds anything, I am seriously considering running some tests myself and then letting the Linux community know of my results.
