Install Just Runs On and On

Using Xubuntu 11.10 to replace W2k in a reasonable Dell comp. Have tried several times and the hddisk has been overwritten already but the installation just runs on and on. Have made several attempts with the install disk. All runs good using just the trial but at install it never seems to finish.

Will it ever end?
