Hi guys. i'm new to ubuntu. had 9.04 running in a dual setup with XP. Partition was too small and I decided to format my laptop and use a live cd of 11.10 to reload on the hdd.

That caused the bootup to fail with grub error 22. Tried debian-squeeze but that stops at "main image read, jumping to main code" and nothing else happens.

I dont have an XP disc anymore either.

you will have to speak slowly, I'm still in the babysteps phase.

Regards
Spencer

Spencer, how precisely did you format the laptop?

(If you want to wipe out everything and install just Ubuntu, you don't need to format, because the Ubuntu installation disk will do that for you.)

Did you try to install Ubuntu?

We need to exactly what you did, and exactly what you intended, in order to start diagnosing the problem.

I dont have an XP disc anymore either.
Did you want to keep XP? Because, if you formatted your hard drive in your laptop, sorry it has gone.
