Hello Ubuntu fans,

I have a bit strange issue. While the ubuntu 10.10 was running it freeze and after shut down it wont response any more. But that is not the worst. I tried to reconfigure the gdm package, but it did not worked. I tried then to remove it and then to install it again, but now gconf2 is a broken package. This all not make sense so a need your help...

Do you have any suggestions that I can try ?

I would recommend using a live CD/DVD and reboot your computer. Try to determine if it is a hardware issue or something else.

If the OS froze it may be a video card issue or memory problem.

Thanks for the prompt reply, but the Live CD does not boot also. I run a memory test and there are a lot of Errors something like 1 million or even more. Do you know some way to recover from this state?

Sounds like a failed memory module. If that be the case then you need to replace it.
