Fonts

I am having trouble with fonts in Firefox and a few other applications. Some fonts look garbled or some are just plain missing. For instance, I can't see commas sometimes, or when I type an o it just shows the the very bottom line, almost like an underscore....

I have all updates, I would have assumed that would fix the problem.

I had garbled fonts issue too especially in firefox - then I changed desktop (from gnome) to LXDE and noticed the fonts were fine - It used sans-serif size 11 as the default is firefox (preferences) try that
