View Full Version : [ubuntu] Changing Desktop Wallpaper after every Boot Up

Hey guys,

I know that there are applications out there that allow you to automatically change your background after a certain period of time, but the only thing is... I don't want my Ubuntu to do that XD

What I want is for it to actually change the wallpaper after every boot. So for arguments sake when I boot ubuntu on day one, image one is the wallpaper, then the second time I shut down and then boot back up, the wallpaper is image two etc.

So my question is... Is there an app that allows me to do the above. Or do I have to make an app to do the above, if you get what I mean?

Thanks, Jamie.

Exactly my thoughts. Let us know if you got some super lightweight script to do that.

Came across the following thread, but the scripts given doesn't work.

http://askubuntu.com/questions/38599/is-there-an-application-that-randomly-selects-a-wallpaper-upon-logging-in

I tried both of the scripts and none worked. Please tell if i did something wrong. Here is the process I followed:

1. Copy the script and put in a text file.
2. Change the directory of pictures.
3. Save the as background.sh
4. Made it executable by "chmod +x background.sh"

Now, upon running it with "bash background.sh", it does nothing :(
