Hi, I installed Lubuntu 11.10 on my Dell Inspiron Mini.

The LXDE GUI is not playing nicely with my low vision.

There is an alternative GNOME/Openbox in log-in but it's not installed. There is no package in Synaptic.

Does anyone know command line syntax for installing GNOME/Openbox on Lubuntu???

Many thanks!

Openbox is already installed on Lubuntu since it is the window manager of LXDE. If you want Gnome, it depends a bit on what you are looking for. For example, the package ubuntu-desktop would install the current desktop of Ubuntu with Unity, while gnome-core is just the essential Gnome environment. The package gnome-desktop-environment provides the standard Gnome environment, while gnome-shell installs the newer Gnome3.

Thanks. I'm aware that I already have Openbox. However, what I don't have is GNOME/Openbox has it appears as a log-in option. I also don't have KDE/Openbox.

I guess these GUI's only work if you do further installs. So I'm going to try your advice and install the Gnome items you specified from Synaptic . . .
