Task switcher appears in background only

In Ubuntu 11.10, every time I lock the screen and come back next morning, the task switcher is no more visible. It appears only in the background if I minimize everything. The issue is solved if I logout/login.
Any idea about what is wrong ? Is there a way to fix this without logging out ?
