Dear all,

I have upgraded my system (Acer 1810tz) from 11.04 to 11.10. I am using i3 as window manager. So far I have used stalonetray as panel and gnome-power-manager for power management. I open for any alternatives as long as they are slim and fast.
G-p-m is not working anymore and so I looking for another applet for power management.
The main issues are:
1. I need a battery monitor in the tray (for checking stat and making sure the laptop doesn't just run out of power)
2. The screen keeps turning off after 30 minutes. This is annoying when I am watching videos. I have changed the system setting in the new "gnome-control-center". The screen is set to never turn off and the power to "don't suspend" when inactive. But the changes somehow don't have an effect.

What can I do?

Thanks a lot for suggestions or ideas,
pimparello
