Goodday,

I'm kinda new to ubuntu, so done a lot of reading but i'm still having a problem.
Did a clean install on my Sony Vaio with the latest ubuntu 11.10.
Before I wiped the HD clean, I had a working mandrake OS on it.
This gave me no problems with my USB ports.
So I pretty shure there's no hardware problem.

I did install from a dvd a nice and slim CLI.
Read about the acpi=off option in grub at boottime.
I had already used that at install time, so there was no need for me to put it in after install.

But no USB.
when i perform a LSUSB i get an error:
unable to initialize libusb: -99

Got a lot of hits in google when i searced for it but they all came up whit the answer of acpi=off. Sadly that doesn't solve my little mistery for me.
Anyone got a clue for me ?

tnx

No experts here ?

I did exacly the same install on a old P4 pc and that gave no problem at all.
But still clueless about the problem with the Sony Vaio.
