This problem has appeared many times before, however I am yet to see it with the current version of KDE that I'm using (4.8.0.0).
I've just done a fresh install of kubuntu and copied my entire home directory across from my previous install (where I think, in lies the problem). I cannot logon using the normal screen. I have to go into a tty and kill the kdm process, then do a startx to get the desktop going.
Is there a neater way of doing this or a fix for this issue?
