Enlightenment Ubuntu

So, this is just an idea. But there are Kubuntu, Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, they are just different versions of the same thing. Different versions of Ubuntu using either KDE, GNOME, Xfce, or Lxde. But there isn't a version that comes with the Enlightenment window manager as a default (enlightenment is more of a desktop manager now so this is why i have this idea). Just looking for feedback, would a version of Ubuntu that comes preinstalled with e17, or the more stable e16 be a good idea?

How bout an AwesomeBuntu...or a Xmonaduntu...or a Ratpoisontu...

Pretty much every window manager imaginable is available for download in the Software Center. No need to start creating whole new versions of Ubuntu for these very lightweight window manager environments. Of course, some would say...well, what if I want a super slim installation with only one of these window managers installed and no other desktop environment. There are minimal installs available as well as the server install (which comes with no GUI at all). You can then install exactly what you want on it...and nothing more.

Bodhi Linux (http://bodhilinux.com/) is based on Ubuntu (for now still anyway) - You could check it out for your fix of Enlightenment. As for an "official" version some developers will have to come and work on it and if the quality gets high enough it may one day be added to the list of derivatives (http://www.ubuntu.com/project/about-ubuntu/derivatives).

Bodhi Linux (http://www.bodhilinux.com/) is a great pre-fab Ubuntu-based distribution that has the e17 window manager rolled in.

If you want to roll your own, I'd go with e17. There used to be a very popular thread (somewhere on these forums) that instructed how to roll e17 from svn. I followed that for many years, however as I got better hardware I kind of drifted away from the project. Because it was a developmental system, packages were oftentimes broken however. I'd probably just roll with Bodhi now.

MoonOS (http://moonos.org) is derived from Ubuntu and comes with an e17 version. I haven't tried it out in years, but I had a VM installation of it at one point not long ago. It seemed pretty slick. From the looks of their website it doesn't look like it's being developed any more, unfortunately.

I just started using Bodhi on an old laptop I got two days ago. It has 512mb of ram and Bohdi runs great on it. E17 seems pretty stable and very usable from my short experience with it. The only thing I don't like about it at this stage is that I can't seem to find a theme that I like. They are all too bling for my taste.
