Hard drive died on the lappy the other day. Thought about picking one up at the local stores but ended up getting a new one on ebay for 1/3 of the price. Hmm...what to do for 12 days waiting for it....

Loaded the o/s using unebootin on a jump drive and booted to the desktop. Hit the install button and loaded the o/s on another jump drive plugged in the other usb port and volia...I'm up and running!

Windows would never let you do that...It likes to wrap itself around the hardware..portable...no

:) I have run directly off the CD a few times, not to mention throwing in another hard drive from a different laptop-- Linux usually doesn't balk when a different motherboard is thrown at it, either.

I've done things like that before. Linux never seize to amaze me.
