I know there're more than one method to install ubuntu 11.10
one of them is to install ubuntu like an application in windows
and the other one is to install it "alongside Windows 7"
which is better in performance ?!

Thanks in Advance :]

I prefer installing direct from CD as opposed to using wubi.

I too prefer a direct install over wubi, but if you're not confident with HD partitioning, etc., or if you're not sure if you want to keep Ubuntu more or less permanently, I'd say go with wubi. It'll be MUCH faster than a virtual box.

Normal is better (for a number of reasons, not just performance issues).

If you're just trying out Ubuntu then I'd recommend Wubi - because it's easier to uninstall. If you're using Ubuntu permanently, then a normal install is better.
