I'm using the Equinox theme and in running Ubuntu 11.04 under the GNOME 2 environment. The gnome-panel applets that I have are the custom menu and the indicator-applet-complete. The panel is transparent and the text is black, which makes it hard to see on a dark wallpaper. Is there any way to modify the gtk2.0.rc file to change to color of the applet text? I've already tried using the gnome color chooser and it doesn't work. My main concern is the indicator applet. I can hardly see it.

Yes you can , but the gtkrc layout may differ from theme to theme . You would really just have top open the file and display the gtkrc files in the text editor . When you open the files the option to run or display will be offered . It's possible to make and save changes to the files from the text editor .
