Installation failure

I keep getting black screen 3/4 way through installation on my laptop which is a Gateway model: 6018GZ I have no operating system on it....when I try to load again it says I already have ubuntu 11.10 installed but WTF I can't use it.............

It might be installed but not display because of video driver problem.

Can you run the cd in live mode (Try Ubuntu option)? Does it load the desktop correctly?
