I just installed 11.04 onto my Dell Inspiron n4010. Although my windows partition can access the internet just fine, ubuntu cannot. It does not seem to recognize my wireless device or ethernet cables. The three devices under "Network adapters":
-Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Ethernet Controller
-Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter
-W1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card

Did you install with the machine connected by ethernet to the router? Ethernet should just work.

With wireless adapters you sometimes need to install the drivers using the Additional Drivers utility. You should be seeing a icon in the top panel that will load this utility. You can also find it in the Dash by typing Add.

Tell us what you have done to try to get either a wireless or ethernet connection to the router. When you click on the network icon in the top panel, what do you see?

Regards.
