I've seen similar posts already but no answers. I've been trying to install ubuntu 11.10 but for some reason it doesn't work. I tried wubi for both 32 and 64 bit and it didn't work. It installs with no problem but when I boot it just gives me a black screen. I can hardly see the logo but it doesn't go beyond that point. I tried using one of the terminals but couldn't see anything either. I tried a full installation on a separate partition with both versions and same problem. Ubuntu 10.04 works perfectly.
My specs are:
acer aspire 5736z
intel pentium 64 bit
intel graphics card
4GB of DDR3
Any help would be appreciated
