Ubuntu should absolutely STOP ADVISING AND ENABLING updates. The update tool is a complete mess.

Only a FRESH INSTALL has any chance of working anymore. An update is a crap shoot that fails miserably most of the time.

Everyone do yourselves a big favor and only do fresh installs.
