View Full Version : [ubuntu] Controlling Ubunta with MCE Remote (No Keyboard\Mouse)

I'm dual booting XBMC and Ubuntu (built from ubuntu-11.10-desktop-i386.iso) on Fusion based hardware.

I'd like to put my box out of the way, and control it exclusively through a media center remote control. This works well for XBMC, but not so well for Ubuntu.

What I'd like to be able to do is to control the absolute basic functions of Ubuntu using the remote. Being realistic, I need cursor controls (Up, down, left, right), Enter, Tab and an on screen keyboard that I can scroll through.

Basically, so I can boot to Ubuntu and then open a web browser, or a media player. Nothing much more.

Is this possible?

I know that some people are going to suggest that I buy a wireless keyboard\mouse, and I may do this in the future. But for now I'd like to see if I can use the hardware that I already have.
