That is not surprising actually. If I remember correctly, it is part of NASA's charter is to share technology it develops as long as that technology is not deemed to be a national secret.

When I worked there in the 1970's, they were sharing technology to anyone that asked for it, and even provided a catalog to order it from. One of my interests was saving money on energy costs. I ordered some micro film from them about technology they had developed for solar heating and wind generators.

Open Source Software is the modern equivalent. I could search for it but they have the Nebula IaaS Cloud Computing platform. It was contributed to OpenStack (http://openstack.org/) in July 2010.

From the OpenShack website: "Who's behind OpenStack? Founded by Rackspace Hosting and NASA, OpenStack has grown to be a global software community of developers collaborating on a standard and massively scalable open source cloud operating system. Our mission is to enable any organization to create and offer cloud computing services running on standard hardware."

Well at least we still own the launchpad :lolflag: (Sorry I couldn't resist!)

@Old_Grey_Wolf; that must have been a truly amazing experience :)

Witty :lolflag:

Yes, it was. The feeling that comes from contributing to something like space travel is indescribable. It isn't just a job you go to every day to get that paycheck.
