View Full Version : Does anyone know how to make conky horizontal

Does anyone have any config files that are horizontal and either at the top OR the bottom of their desktop? If not, does anyone know of any resources i can look at that will help me do this?

I'm using Kubuntu and have multiple desktops; having my conky at either the right or left of each desktop covers the wallpaper, and just by tinkering around with conky its now COMPLETELY broken. Ive also been googling 'horizontal, conky, conky config, how to make conky horizontal, etc' for the last 3 and a half hours and have still found nothing

Thanks for the correction. Would not call it a good find, the thread is there staring everybody in the face :D

It's such a huge thread, though, that that one post was a good find. ;)

Simply put all the code on one line or break the line with a "\" so you can read it easier in your text editor.

A sample (requires a composite manager and the back ground LUA) for the bottom of the screen:

# by Sector11 - 14 Aug 2011
# killall conky && conky -c ~/Conky/OB_1-liner-bot &

why? Removing those makes a vertical conky.

He asked about a horizontal conky

I mean CR/LF not \

I mean CR/LF not \

One could do it all on one line and I did for years:

TEXT
${color7}${desktop_name}${color} CPU ${color7}${if_match ${cpu cpu0} < 10}00${cpu cpu0}${color}${else}${color7}${if_match ${cpu cpu0} < 100}0${cpu cpu0}${color}${else}${color9}${cpu cpu0}${color}${endif}${endif} Mem ${color7}${if_match ${memperc} < 10}00${memperc}${color}${else}${color7}${if_match ${memperc} < 100}0${memperc}${color}${else}${color9}${memperc}$ {color}${endif}${endif} Root ${color7}${if_match ${fs_used_perc /} < 10}00${fs_used_perc /}${color}${else}${color7}${if_match ${fs_used_perc /} < 100}0${fs_used_perc /}${color}${else}${color9}${fs_used_perc /}${color}${endif}${endif} CPU ${color7}${hwmon 1 temp 1}°${color} Fan ${color7}${hwmon 2 fan 1}${color}rpm T2 ${color7}${hwmon 2 temp 1}°${color} T3 ${color7}${hwmon 2 temp 2}°${color} SDA ${color7}${execpi 15 hddtemp -n /dev/sda | xargs ~/Conky/scripts/ColorTempHDD.sh}°${color} GPU ${color7}${nvidia temp}°${color} ${color5}Freq${color} GPU ${color7}${nvidia gpufreq}${color} MEM ${color7}${nvidia memfreq}${color} DN ${downspeedgraph eth0 10,40 FFFF00 FF0000} UP ${upspeedgraph eth0 10,40 FF0000 FFFF00}${goto 933}| ${color}${uptime_short}${voffset -8}

but the \ simply tells conky to ignore the "CR/LF" making a horizontal conky a lot easier to work with.

Other than those I have no idea how to remove the "CR/LF" and {opinion} not sure I'd want to, I like the idea of having the sections readily readable.
