is there any way to convert my 64-bit ubuntu 11.10 to the 32-bit version, without formatting my PC?

The only way of which I know is to reinstall. If you have a seperate home partition you can keep it in tact and only format the root partition. You will still have to reinstall your extra programs, which is rather quick with synaptic, but your data and settings will stay in tact.

Can you do it like a Upgrade on the cd or install a side partition next to it?
