Hi,
Please forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong section I'm new to the forum. I'm also new to Linux having just built my first computer I decided to run Ubuntu. I don't have any experience with Linux having migrated from Windows to OS X and back again so please bare with me.
I like the look of Gnome 3 and tried to install it following the guides here (http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-install-gnome-shell-in-ubuntu-11-10-oneiric-ocelot.html) and when I encountered problems I removed Gnome and tried this (http://techhamlet.com/2011/10/install-gnome-shell-in-ubuntu-11-10/). My problem is when I log in with GNOME selected the top menu bar and all menus appear in what I first thought was Arabic after the second try I'm not sure.
I've done a clean install of Ubuntu and haven't tried to install Gnome 3 yet. Does anyone know what the problem may be or what I did wrong?
Going off topic our computer science at school is very basic. I really want to learn how to use Linux properly through terminal and eventually programing etc. Any advice or tips on where to start would be most throughly appreciated. :D
Kind Regards,
Grace
