fresh install with old home, can't log in

I was having problems with my previous installation of ubuntu, and I was overdue for upgrading anyway, so I made a fresh install of ubuntu, but with a partition withy home folder in it. The installation went fine, only now I can't log in using the GUI. I can log in using the command line however, after pressing ctrl-alt-F2. I suspect this may have something to do with my graphics card (an nVidia 9500GT).

Any ideas or support would be much appreciated.

Problem fixed, had to change it to using my onboard graphics card
