View Full Version : [all variants] linux cursor issue

Hi i'm new to linux and have a problem that i can't solve.

My daughter has an old dell C610 that has ubuntu 9.10 installed the problem is with the touchpad / cursor in that when you try to point to say places or Internet the cursor navigates over to the left of the screen and is uncontrollable and i have to use the tab key which is a pain.

I have tried using a psp mouse it does the same with that I have tried mouse preferences in Ubuntu with no luck.
I've searched the help pages and typed in commands with respect to similar type issues. I have also installed older ubuntu / puppy linux suse etc to see if I can get a stable pointer it does it even with the older distros?

Any help and support from you brainiacs appreciated

9.10 is obsolete, so I would begin with a fresh install of 11.10. Since the computer is old, I recommend Xubuntu or Lubuntu.

How much memory does it have?
