Hi all,

I have a problem here, hope you can help me solve.

I had a running installation of Ubuntu 11.04, then i tried to update from USB to 11.04, apparently the update went fine but then i was not able to log in. So i mounted the filesystem with my live cd, backed up, and did a fresh install of 11.10 overwriting ubuntu partition.

After that grub got broken, i got to reinstall it using live cd again (grub is ok, because i can boot again into windows in other partition).

Now when i try to boot Ubuntu 11.10. I get a kernel panic stating:

cannot open root device sda4 or unknown-block(0,0)
please append a correct root= boot option

sda4 is my ubuntu partition, i also have swab in sda3 and windows uses sda1 and sda2

i have run boot info script and here are the results, im not aware of what could be wrong.

Boot Info Script 0.60 from 17 May 2011

No advice at all? My ubuntu is still in unusable state... Would you recommend trying to install another version? Another remix?

Now when i try to boot Ubuntu 11.10. I get a kernel panic stating:

cannot open root device sda4 or unknown-block(0,0)
please append a correct root= boot option

That's exactly what I also got trying 11.10 and 12.04.
Sorry, cannot help, but at least you are not alone :)
