I've got another issue that I'm trying to resolve with one of my college websites. It called wimba and basically it loads a speech recording program via a java applet. The problem I got is it just gets stuck at "initializing audio" for a really long time then after about 30mins it says "connecting to server" in the applet window but nothing happens. Of course to the bottom of the page it gives me a warning that your platform, "please use supported windows or mac platform". Itś not a user agent issue as i've already tried that. I go to java websites, it shows i got java 6 23 installed so its not like i'm missing java. So far I've gotten everything I previously had with windows to work with ubuntu, does anyone know of a fix for this or is it just the provider of the content, wimba aka blackboard collaborate simply does not allow it.
here's a link of what they describe it suppose to do

This issue was resolved in another thread when someone mentioned it worked with ubuntu 8.04LTS. I am confortable using the older version of ubuntu it does everything without the need for virtual box or dual booting windows just to run a java applet.Maybe changes will be made with ubuntu 12.10 so the iceteaplugin can have more compatibility, until then I am not going to upgrade.
