I bought a mp280 pixma canon printer and having troubles finding drivers to work I've tried the eruope canon site and I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit can anyone help out I really like ubuntu I hate Windows 7 and I'm trying to get this printer to work and I'm all set

thanks Rex but I'm sort of new to linux but getting there and I'm not sure ever I download what do I do extract what program I use to install the firmware

First go to web site and tick Linux. At the bottom of the page is the download link. Download the driver. Open up the package and you will find a "read me" file. That should give you the information that you require. Enjoy.

The problems I have with this printer is that in any scan application like gscan2pdf or simplescan it doesn't recognize the printer. It prints fine though . But on HP All in one Printers it does recognize the scanner.

I have a mp280 and I downloaded and installed the driver and scan gear but when I hooked the printer up it's recognized but it's not printing. Did I miss a step somewhere?
