i am using a netbook that has mas max resolution of 1024x600.

i was running a live OS (pinguy os) and there is an option to select 1024x768 resolution. I tried to set it and its working. Since that OS, I think, is based on ubuntu, can I set also the resolution of my screen while I am using UBUNTU 11.10?

It may work under Ubuntu. Try it and tell us if it works.

Try newrez, it might work for you. I've been trying to use it on my bro's netbook and it hasn't worked for me though. It worked on my HP laptop back when 10.04 & 10.10 were out, but haven't tested it on anything else.
