View Full Version : [ubuntu] Restoring Desktop graphics to default (like came on the live disk)

I have been running Ubuntu (10.04 currently) for over 5 years on the same machine.

If I run the machine from the live disk (USB 10.04) OpenGL works fine and smoothly. But I cannot get the onboard system to work as well. Could someone tell me how I could easily reset the graphics system to a default/autoconfig driver and repair it?

I understand that I could access the live disk and copy config files over, but I think it will take a little more than that.

I really don't want to do a re-install, I have too many custom configurations (Printers, Apache, backup info, routing info and the like) to want to have to rebuild it all. (not worried about the /home directory, it is on another drive that I will un-mount)
