Since my laptop just went to heaven, I am currently waiting for the replacement.
The good ol' days of yesteryear when you could buy a netbook with linux preinstalled unfortunately have passed, so I decided to go for a dualboot (since I paid for the windows license anyway - and the windows refund seems to be more hassle than it is actually is worth)

as I haven't used windows since 2006 (long live XP), I was wondering if anyone could tell me their favorite windows forum

The only thing i need my windows is to dump all games on it and play them. Currently i have no antivirus, no firewall, no internet applications, absoluteley nothing. I stripped everything i do not need for high-performance gaming (even deleted LAN drivers). For everything else i got my Ubuntu...

and if you have questions about windows i am happy to answer them

Tech Forums (http://www.tech-forums.net/pc/forum.php) is pretty decent. They have a few people over there that are very helpful.

For Microsoft stuff, you just can't beat the MSDN forums.

Overclock.net (http://www.overclock.net) is more about getting the most out of your hardware however they have several sub-forums and you will get most answers you need there, even on Linux :) (And when I was still active there I found it to be a very good place on the Internet.)

I looked around and there doesn't seem to be a lot of helpful forums out there.... mschat.net used to be good but.... then they moved to todayinwindows.com/forum and now the forums seem to be closed so.... I don't know my guess would be the msndn forumsThey have been reopened! http://forum.todayinwindows.com/

As far as sites goes you could try http://todayinwindows.com or http://winsupersite.com. What you probably should do to find what your looking for is to look-up groups on Facebook or Google plus

For general problem solving the Tech Support Guy (http://www.techguy.org/) forums are pretty friendly...at least they used to be, I joined it in 2001, but haven't been there for quite a long time. They even have a Linux section, as well as hardware, networking, multi-media, photograpy, graphic design, etc.

Of course, the most active forum is the malware removal one. :)

There are also general discussions going on in the Random Discussion section (which I tended to avoid).

Anyway, most questions were answered pretty nicely, and they were always nice to me. Those things may have changed by now, but, like UF, most questions have already been asked and answered many times, so there's always search if you're not inclined to posting there.

UF is still a LOT nicer, but TSG was pretty decent for an ad-supported site.

To be fair to Windows, I've never had anything break, unless I've fiddled with something I shouldn't. Therefore forums are a bit useless.

I used to hang at PC Perspective forums (http://forums.pcper.com/) and Sharky Extreme forums (http://www.sharkyforums.com/). Some cool people hang there, but the subject matter is boring. ;)
