Samsung Intensity II phone pictures vary greatly in size??

I notice now that everytime I take a picture, I must take multiple shots. This time I took 4 pictures of the cat. First 2 pictures were tiny,
6.1kb
25.3kb
then
133.8kb
187.9kb

My camera is set to take
1280 by 960

so why is it arbitrarily making tiny pictures?

I think i figured this out. It is verizon or the phone which resizes the pictures.
first photo is part of a group of 4 I sent all at once

second photo I simply sent all byitself

So it is resizing these and the only way to get a decent sized photo is to send only one at a time.
What I am doing is emailing the pics to my email account.
Is there another way to do this better where I can send more and keep the sizes large?

If you have an Android phone/iPhone, you can sync your files with dropbox or box.net or something similar. Not sure about the Intensity though.
