Annoying but temperamental problem. I'm using Gnome Classic in Ubuntu 11.10. Sometimes when I boot up, the icon style is incorrect, Compiz settings are forgotten (eg no wobbly windows) and windows appear without their top bar, so can't close or minimise them.

All I have to do is logout and then re-login and the problem is always fixed.

I don't think this happens in Unity but not absolutely sure. Any ideas guys?

It may be conflicting Windows Manager Composing issue. If using the 'fallback' in Gnome and don't plan to use Unity then I would remove the packages in Unity if not make sure you use the Unity plug-in for compiz.

Thanks but I don't want to remove Unity entirely. How do I get the Compiz Unity plugin? Is it on Synaptic?
