View Full Version : [SOLVED] How big should I make my home partition actually? Use ALL of the remaining size?

I plan to re-install my system. My HDD is 250GB. At the moment, it is partitioned like this:

Partition 1: Swap, 4GB
Partition 2: Root, etc4, 26GB
Partition 3: Home, ext4, 220GB

My question is: Does it make sense to use all of the rest for the home partition?
Also, I plan to encrypt 'home' with eCryptfs, or at least create one encrypted folder 'Private' for the very personal stuff.
As for this situation, are there any disadvantages I didn't think of?

Currently, I'm using Ubuntu 11.10.

Looks good to me.

Thank you. So, I guess it's normal to give all of the remaining space to the home partition. And as I have no dual-boot (I run Windows XP in VirtualBox, if needed), I don't have the need for a shared partition.
