Mupen64Plus Lagging

I installed Mupen64Plus through the Ubuntu Software Center and it is very laggy. I am running on Ubuntu 11.10 through a wubi install. Specs are a 1.8 ghz dual-core intel processor, 2 gigs ddr2 ram, and integrated intel graphics, somewhere around 256 megs i think. I have working drivers for the intel graphics. I ran Project64 in Windows Vista flawlessly, and I'm hoping to be able to run N64 games as good in Ubuntu somehow.

The reason why mupen64plus from the Ubuntu Repos is kinda slow is that the Version in the Repos is outdated. Get the newest mupen64plus from playdeb (http://www.playdeb.net) and also install cutemupen.

cutemupen is a GUI for mupen64plus as it doesn't have one out of the box.
