Hi to all readers,

Recently, I upgraded my older Ubuntu system to new version of Ubuntu where it asked to reboot the system.

Upon restarting, my new Ubuntu had nothing on my desktop. I mean side-bar, task-bar, tool-bar, my previous shortcut on desktop nothing is visible. In menu-bar I can see File, Edit, Go and Help tabs but almost all lists under these tabs are disabled. Literally, I cannot use GUI for what it is meant for.

My Local Windows hard drive, cd, is also not readable as error being displayed is to 'Unable to mount the disk'.

Tool-bar short cut is not visible but notification of Power, WLAN, Network etc being turned ON/ OFF are being notified accordingly.

I switched to terminal mode and tried upgrading the whole system once again but it did not help.

Any Idea what could be the problem and how could it be solved ??

Thanks in advance for your response !!!

In addition,

Best wishes for New year !!
