View Full Version : [ubuntu] Wireless connected, but no internet in 11.10

Hey, I'm totally new to this Linux business so I apologise in advance if I come across as a dumb son of a gun... but, anyway.

I've recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my desktop after being advised by a friend (who, I might add, is painfully unavailable to help after said advising). Everything installed fine, it looks all pretty and shiny, and I've got all the apps and stuff I wanted.

My problem came when I disconnected it from the ethernet downstairs to move it to the upstairs study. I've got my wireless dongle up and running, and the system is connecting happily to the network after inputting the security.... however...

LINUX LIES TO ME. It's saying that my wireless is connected, but I'm completely unable to acess ANY kind of internet.

PLEASE HELP! But, remember that I'm new to this, and I might not understand some of the 'jargon'. :(

It actually pains me to ask for this help, I'm pretty much a wizard on Windows and Mac OS. :(
