error after update

I updated to 10.10 from 10.04 last week. After rebooting it shows "error "prefix" not found" for half a second and then it's stuck at a flashing line forever!! I installed 10.04 again and I didn't upgrade to 10.10 directly because the flashing line looks creepy and I don't want to see it again. What should I do now??

PS 1.I want to upgrade to 10.10
2.I am using wubi
3.I hate that flashing line

Most complicated upgrade! Why don't you try to uninstall Wubi from Windows, clean everything (Ubuntu folder remains on C:\) and install again Ubuntu 10.10?

I would also suggest that you try a clean installation. Upgrades are always prone to problems and I guess it doesn't make things easier that you are using Wubi.

Thanks for the replies! I tried reinstalling it but it still shows the creepy line that's flashing :(

What Ubuntu version you are installing? And what type of Graphics card has your computer?

Graphics Card: ATI RADEON HD 4570 graphics 512mb

I tried reinstalling 10.04, 10.10, 11.04 and 11.10 with wubi. Only 10.04 worked.:)

I also tried burning the 11.10 iso to a cd and it didn't work either. (I mean installing ubuntu. The cd booted up but when I choose install it shows the creepy-and-blinking white line):(

Also I tried to boot from USB drive and it still shows the flashing line

Thanks BC59! :) It booted into the USB stick and it also allows me to try out Ubuntu. But I got a new problem... :(
